Everyone has been obsessed with the new DUNE movie, which was released in theaters and on HBO Max (ad-free plan) on October 22nd, earning more than $40 million its first weekend. Not only does the movie include some of the best actors in the game right now - Timothee Chalamet, Javier Bardem, Oscar Isaac, and Josh Brolan, to name a few - the vibe of the sci-fi flick is incredibly creative.
Obviously our crew identifies with DUNE's innovative film style, travel-inspiring set, and action-packed adventure scenes. So, in the spirit of the holiday season, we've compiled a list of eight DUNE-inspired gifts for your favorite person to watch the movie with.
1. Linen Scarf
Zendaya wasn't the only one wearing a linen scarf in this movie. Most of the DUNE cast donned this desert-dweller's accessory at one point or another. Fun Fact: In the Middle East, where this movie was made, a shemagh or keffiyeh is commonly worn to provide protection from the sun, dust and sand.
The majority of the movie revolved around a battle over the control of "spice," a unique sand-looking element harvested from the desert planet of Arrakis. "Spice" supplies healing powers to the native Fremen, and space-travel energy for the Houses battling for its domain. Naturally, we thought some exotic spices would make for a great DUNE-inspired gift, particularly for you loved-one who kills it in the kitchen.
One of our favorite things about the DUNE movie was the costume design. Everything was either edgy and tactical or elaborately luxurious. The most important costume in the movie is the Stillsuit, which was designed to be worn in the desert and recycle the body's sweat into drinkable water. FLPSDE was founded by motorcycle riders, and we thought the Stillsuit looked a lot like moto gear. No matter the bike, every rider should be wearing some kind of protection like this heavyweight long-sleeve protection shirt by Troy Lee Designs.
